 THE FOX AND THE GOAT Once there was a thirsty fox. He went about in search of water and soon found a well with some water at its bottom. He jumped into it and drank water. He jumped many times but failed to come out of the well. He did not know what to do. By chance, a thirsty goat passed that way. She looked into the Well and saw the fox. "What are you doing there? the. Goat said to the fox. The fox replied that he was drinking water. She then enquired whether the water was cool and sweet. ''Yes", replied the fox, "It is so cool and $Wee that I cannot leave drinking it". Then the fox told her told her to Jump if she wanted to have a drink. The goat was foolish. She at once jumped into the well. The fox requested the goat to bend down a little and let himClimb up her back so that he could get out of there. He promised to help her in getting out of the well. The goat agreed and the fox climbed up her back. Then with the jump, he was out of the well. The goat then asked the fox to help her in getting out of the well. While the fox was going away, he told her that she would not have jumped into the well if she had .any brains. Now she should go on drinking water ti.ll her master's arrival saying this fox ran away, leaving the goat in the well. Moral: Look before you leap. |
